The fundamentals
Three rules for a perfect burn
Trim your wick
5mm before every single burn
A trimmed wick keeps the flame steady, reduces soot, and extends the life of your candle. Before you light up — every time — trim it to 5mm. It makes more difference than you'd expect.
Respect the melt pool
Allow a full melt pool — max 4 hours
On the first burn especially, let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the vessel. This sets the memory of the wax and prevents tunnelling. Never burn for more than 4 hours in one sitting.
Know when to stop
Extinguish at 1cm of wax remaining
When around 1cm of wax remains, it's time to say goodbye to the flame. Burning past this point risks overheating the concrete vessel — and that's when things can go wrong.

Burning safely, every time
Handcrafted candles are made with care — and they deserve the same in return. These are the basics every Fireside customer should know.
Never leave unattended
Always keep an eye on a burning candle. Never leave a lit candle in a room you're not in.
Keep away from children & pets
Place your candle out of reach of curious hands and paws.
Burn on a heat-resistant surface
Our concrete vessels are heat-tested, but always set them on a stable, heat-resistant surface as an extra precaution.
Avoid drafts
A draft causes an uneven burn and can make the flame flicker unpredictably. Keep your candle away from fans, open windows, and vents.
Keep clear of flammable materials
Maintain a safe distance from curtains, paper, fabrics, and anything else that could catch alight.
Never move a burning candle
Wait until the wax has fully cooled and solidified before moving your candle. Hot wax and an open flame are both a burn risk.
Make it last
Store it well.
Then keep the vessel.
Keep your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Heat and UV light can soften the wax and fade the fragrance over time — a little thought in storage goes a long way.
Once the wax is gone, the vessel is still very much alive. Clean it out, let it dry, and put it to work — as a planter, a desk organiser, a holder for a tealight, or simply a piece of decor on your shelf. That's the whole idea.
